The CareMore Business Development Manager will support the organization’s growth efforts by providing leadership support across Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and external collaboration opportunities. The role will provide market planning, research and analytics, project management, and advisory support to both internal and external collaboration partners (including health systems, primary care practices, health plans, and other health services entities) in order to support CareMore’s business development priorities. This may include developing market and product analyses / business plans for new opportunities, as well as enhancing analyses of existing opportunities in order to support executive decisions.



In addition to building the analytics and insights for new growth opportunities, the Business Development Manager will provide day-to-day support to the Staff VP, Business Development in helping to drive CareMore’s growth strategy across the Anthem enterprise.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Drive analyses of strategic partner collaboration opportunities, including assessing potential membership, clinical impact, and profitability, as well as supporting the design of operating models that can achieve collaboration objectives
  • Collaborate with market and functional leadership, working with executives across Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, and IT to gather resources and/or data, as well as to help build financial assumptions and operating plans for new growth initiatives
  • Prepare background analysis and external project documents required to support business development process with collaboration partners
  • Provide leadership in building a culture of teamwork with peers and indirect reports to accomplish reporting and data analysis goals and objectives
  • Own management of weekly business development pipeline; support build-out of operational tools, internal processes, and infrastructure
  • Create implementation plans to support product / operational changes resulting from new business
  • Ability to meet travel requirements of 20%-50% per week based on need when building strategic partner relationships and developing collaboration agreements

Minimum Qualification

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in a related field from a four-year college or university; 5-7 years of progressive experience in consulting and/or healthcare roles with ownership for business growth; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH) a plus but not required.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required

  • Strong problem solving and analytic skill-set, including ability to develop qualitative and quantitative  frameworks and conduct independent analyses that drive to thoughtful insights and conclusions
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset, including comfort with ambiguity, willingness to iterate, and ability to take initiative
  • Enthusiasm to continue building out the Business Development team’s standard tools and infrastructure
  • Strong healthcare industry knowledge and, more specifically, experience developing / implementing growth strategies in the context of Medicare Advantage and Medicaid
  • Record of academic and professional achievement
  • Ability to work independently, while simultaneously being able to forge productive team relationships
  • Personal leadership qualities, including an ability to manage people, drive change, and accomplish challenging goals by working with others
  • Business judgment and maturity, including the ability to develop a 'big picture' view
  • Strong personal presence, combined with compelling and professional presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills
