Walk-In Customer Representative - Bilingual (Vietnamese or Chinese)

Location: Amerigroup, 3800 Buffalo Speedway, Suite 400, Houston, TX 77098

Work Hours: M-F day shift with 1 Saturday per month 


Responsible for handling all walk-in customers by responding to inquiries for all lines of business. 

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: 
  • Receives and verifies premium payments. 
  • Assists customers with information required to make decisions on health care coverage that best meets their needs by explaining benefits and rates for all policies. 
  • Researches and responds to walk-in customer concerns. 
  • Accepts premium payments and prepares written receipts. 
  • Assists customers in the selection of health care coverage that best suits their needs. 
  • Assist customers in making policy change decisions that result in retained business. 
  • Identify complex and unusual inquiries that may cause problems; document and submit problem reports for resolution; tracks trends and problems that directly impact company performance. 
  • Provide feedback to appropriate areas to improve service. 
  • Acts as liaison between customer and operating units. 
  • Assists with research of executive inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • Requires HS diploma or equivalent;
  • 5 years of operations or outstanding customer service experience; 
  • Or, any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 
  • You must be bllingual (written and verbal) in English and Vietnamese OR English and Chinese – you will be required to complete and successfully pass a language assessment 
  • You must live within 50 miles of and be able to work from our Amerigroup, 3800 Buffalo Speedway, Suite 400, Houston, TX 77098 office on a daily basis – this is NOT a work-from-home opportunity. Relocation will not be provided.
  • You must be able to work the required hours, which are M-F day shift hours, in addition to 1 Saturday per month 
  • You must obtain your license to sell life and health insurance within 4 months of employment (if you don't already have one) - this cost will be incurred by Anthem
  • An in-depth knowledge of all lines of business and products sold by the company as well as policies and procedures that apply to membership, claims processing is preferred
  • You must be an energetic/People Person/comfortable speaking in front of a group, large or small 
  • You must have the ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision 
  • Prior sales experience preferred

You have to be at least 18 years of age (unless part of an approved/sponsored program) and currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university. For actuarial students, sitting for or having at least one exam completed by the time your interview is an advantage.

We offer internships that are 3 months, 6 months and part-time during the school year. Our opportunities are based on business needs and student availability.
