As an Anthem summer intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing industry while gaining valuable business experience and driving sustainable end-to-end process improvements. As part of the team, you will work with and learn from talented professionals in various areas across the company (such as Operations, Digitization, IT and Enterprise Execution) to gather data, formulate recommendations and launch projects that help us run our business more efficiently and effectively.


This program is tailored to your personal academic and professional goals and is designed to strengthen your understanding of the health care industry and prepare you for future opportunities through:

Qualifications:

To qualify for the program, you must currently be pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university. You must also be able to work from our New York or Richmond office for the summer.

Additionally, intern candidates will typically have:

- BA/BS major in one of the following fields: Business Administration, Operations, Finance, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Marketing, Engineering, or Technology
- Student leadership experience (preferred)
- Successful intern candidates should demonstrate a blend of talents and skills including:
o Excellent communication
o Analytical and financial acumen
o Process improvement skills (including data analysis, stakeholder management, application of process centric methodologies/tools, etc.)
o Project management skills (including time management, risk management, etc.)
o Leadership skills

Your Questions, Answered

You have to be at least 18 years of age (unless part of an approved/sponsored program) and currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university. For actuarial students, sitting for or having at least one exam completed by the time your interview is an advantage.

We offer internships that are 3 months, 6 months and part-time during the school year. Our opportunities are based on business needs and student availability.

We are delighted to get to know you! Our team participates in various on-campus events throughout the year and from time to time hosts meetings in our offices. The fastest way to see where you stand in the application process is to log into our system to check your status.

Because internships are temporary positions, the only benefits offered at this time are access to our onsite fitness facilities, and the ability to contribute to a 401k. We do, however, offer opportunities to get connected, and be mentored through our various ARGs (Associate Resource Groups).
