As a Customer Care Representative you will guide members through their healthcare questions via customer calls and e-mails or help providers with answering questions about member plans.  You will be the one helping them navigate their healthcare needs by explaining their benefits, solving claim concerns, finding a doctor nearby or being their healthcare advocate.  You will be their guide to a better healthcare experience and ensure that they only need to call once to get the help they need.   
 
Here’s what a typical day may look like:
  • From the moment you login, you’ll be focused on answering customer calls, demonstrating our values of caring as you proactively work to resolve our members questions and concerns
  • You’ll strive for first call resolution, working to resolve member issues at the point of contact
  • You’ll have duel monitors and leverage computer based resources to find answers to customers questions, and help simplify next steps for members without giving them homework
  • You may reach out to partners in other departments, or to Doctors’ offices to help resolve a customer concern
  • You’ll support your teammates, flex as business needs require to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers

Qualifications Needed:
  • No previous healthcare experience is needed, we will set you up for success with extensive work specific training. 
  • Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility for your team mates and our members, demonstrated by the simplest things like being on time and available to meet member’s needs, to being easy to work with and having a positive attitude
  • passion for serving others, and willingness to learn the heath-care industry
  • Great communication and listening skills with the ability to be empathetic and desire to help resolve members questions at the first point of contact
  • Must exemplify Anthem Values: Accountable, Trustworthy, Caring, Innovate, Easy to Do Business With
  • Ability to work any 8 hour shift between the hours of 7:55 AM - 6:30 PM Monday - Friday.

Your Questions, Answered

You have to be at least 18 years of age (unless part of an approved/sponsored program) and currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university. For actuarial students, sitting for or having at least one exam completed by the time your interview is an advantage.

We offer internships that are 3 months, 6 months and part-time during the school year. Our opportunities are based on business needs and student availability.

We are delighted to get to know you! Our team participates in various on-campus events throughout the year and from time to time hosts meetings in our offices. The fastest way to see where you stand in the application process is to log into our system to check your status.

Because internships are temporary positions, the only benefits offered at this time are access to our onsite fitness facilities, and the ability to contribute to a 401k. We do, however, offer opportunities to get connected, and be mentored through our various ARGs (Associate Resource Groups).
