The Business Intelligence Intern will be responsible for researching, collecting, and inputting data from complex and substantially varied processes related to health insurance benefit and rate filings. Interns will work alongside other interns and experienced Anthem associates.
This position will highlight how data, analysis, and visualizations are used to drive business decisions and strategy.
This project will cover standard industry rate development, pricing methodology, HHS plan and benefit guidelines, state DOI regulatory requirements, and rigorous actuarial review. It requires careful attention to detail, an understanding of pricing structure and actuarial standards of practice, and the ability to do independent problem solving. In addition to those listed above, it requires at least intermediate computer skills with spreadsheets and databases, and the work itself will enhance those skills. This is an opportunity to gain experience with actuarial pricing models and other common actuarial tasks, as well as a chance to improve job skills that are fundamental in the business field.
This internship is expected to last 4-6 months with the project timeline from April (if the intern’s schedule permits) to August. Training specific to the position will be provided and successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage in more advanced analysis and modeling.
Candidate must be a student in good standing with at least one year completed. Understanding of complex mathematical calculations and processes a must. Prefer candidates who are majoring in Statistics, Math, CMDA, Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or related studies.
