Our Customer Care Representatives are making a difference in members' lives every day.

As a Customer Care Representative you will guide members through their healthcare experience, answer customer questions via phone, e-mail, or chat; or help providers with questions about member plans. You will be the person that members can rely on to help them navigate their healthcare needs by explaining their benefits, solving claim concerns, finding a doctor nearby or being their healthcare advocate. You will be their guide to a better healthcare experience by being proactive, anticipating next steps, and ensuring that they only need to call once to get the help they need.

Here's what a typical day may look like:

  • From the moment you login, you'll be focused on answering customer calls, demonstrating our values as you proactively work to resolve our members' questions and concerns
  • You'll strive for first call resolution, working to resolve member issues at the point of contact
  • Using dual monitors and leveraging computer based resources you'll find answers to customers questions, and help simplify next steps for members without giving them homework
  • Acting as an advocate for our members, you may reach out to partners in other departments, or to Doctor's office to help resolve a customer need or concern
  • You will be constantly learning, growing your knowledge and skills, and embracing new technology as we continue to evolve how we service our customers

Anthem is looking for a Tax Manager - Tax Information Reporting to join its tax department in Indianapolis, Indiana.  We are seeking a resourceful individual who has the requisite technical knowledge and experience in overall tax information compliance; can ensure production of accurate, reconciled data; and can manage and efficiently utilize our processes that are designed to accurately and timely comply with the Company’s tax information reporting obligations for various business products. The ideal candidate must be a quick learner, a creative problem-solver, and a collaborative team member. This function collaborates with different business teams across the company, including IT, Sales, Life & Disability, Provider Relations, Finance, Accounting, and Legal.

This position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
You will be responsible for:
  1. Technical tax research and advising internal business associates with respect to all areas of tax information reporting, including but not limited to, IRC Sections 6041, 6050W, 6055, 6056, 1441 and 3406;
  2. Filing FATCA forms and providing internal advice and counsel on any FATCA matters.
  3. Manage and review annual information reporting compliance data gathering, file preparations and uploads to ensure timely distribution of forms, including but not limited to Forms 1099-R, 1099-LTC, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1042-S, 5498, 592-B, and any other State tax withholding information returns required by various State Tax Authorities;
  4. Ensure timely annual information reporting compliance filings, including but not limited to Forms 945, 1042 and 8966;
  5. Provide support and assistance in issuance of Form 1095;
  6. Ensure timely remittance of withholding deposits to Federal and State tax authorities pursuant to applicable rules and guidelines;
  7. Maintain, manage, and administer existing tax information reporting software applications;
  8. Assist with detailed reviews of reporting data to identify and correct for obvious errors;
  9. Ensure distribution of mailed tax forms are timely postmarked;
  10. Oversee and track the processes for compliance events (B Notice, 972CG);
  11. Generate and issue timely compliance letters, track responses received, review and compile inventory tracking status for action upon deadline and post deadline;
  12. Train and provide guidance to seasonal workers during B Notice season
  13. Respond, in a timely fashion, to inquiries from other Anthem associates as they relate to tax information reporting; and
  14. Guide cross-functional teams to resolution.
  1. BS/BA in Finance or Accounting;
  2. Minimum 7 years of experience directly in tax informational reporting or combination of educational credentials and experience;
  3. CPA Preferred;
  4. Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 
  5. Knowledge of the insurance industry’s customary tax information process and procedures is a plus;
  6. Solid understanding of U.S. tax rules and associated exposures around information reporting;
  7. Tax audit experience in areas of Information Reporting;
  8. Tax reporting experience on cross border payments is preferred but not mandatory;
  9. Excellent time-management skills;
  10. Attention to detail and follow-through - including the ability to take the detailed data provided to form a coherent and correct tax picture;
  11. Management skills designed to ensure data integrity and able to multi-task and take on additional responsibilities as needed;
  12. Strong organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication; and interpersonal skills;
  13. The ability to quickly adapt to new situations and think on your feet;
  14. Proficiency in Excel; and
  15. Technical knowledge of all well-recognized tax information reporting software applications.
