The Director of Technology, Voice Engineering, is responsible for designing and implementing all or part of the organization's complex telecommunications infrastructure in line with pre-identified business needs and requirements. The role requires an understanding of the existing technologies and architecture to evolve it to the next level. The individual will participate and lead projects to deliver technology solutions, support current infrastructure by troubleshooting and resolving incidents, and consult with other experienced technologists to architect, design and implement new unified collaboration solutions. This role requires heavy end-user focus and experience/ knowledge. 

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading and managing the Telecommunications engineering team/personnel.
  • Evaluate current telephony infrastructure and provide recommendations on potential improvements in technology, process, security, with the ability to articulate and champion proposed changes to technical peers, management, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for the Enterprise telephony system.
  • Lead and support technology evaluations and provide guidance on telecommunication systems and solutions. Have the ability to compare competing solutions from a technology and financial perspective. Evaluate telecom contracts and work with management, legal department and third parties to change services that results in savings to Anthem.
  • Ensure full environmental documentation with diagrams, processes and procedures.
  • Create and view trend analysis reports in order optimize performance or implement process improves that will lead to improved stability and availability.
  • Manage the evaluation, testing, installation and configuration of Anthem’s Avaya environment, including analyze and test software for interoperability and compatibility.
  • Coordinate with other members of the IT Infrastructure team on cross-functional projects and deliverables.
  • Work with Third Party Vendors during implementation and trouble-shooting of application issues and problem resolution ensuring that the proper long-term strategies are in place.
  • Experience working and communicating directly with different levels of the organization to identify business requirements and successfully implement the changes without affecting operations.
  • Work directly with stakeholders across the business to improve their use of communication technologies and enable the business by providing solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrate operations and technology leadership behaviors (one team, build trust, customer driven, future focused, innovate daily, and be curious) in all actions and ways of working, and coach their organization on the behaviors.
  • Attract and develop a highly skilled team, including participating in team member on-boarding and development

Requires BA/BS in Computer Science or related field; 7+ years of IT management experience, ability to manage across geographically diverse associates and vendor partners; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience, expertise and/or specific certification may be required.

 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of IT experience in managing or providing technology strategies and support in large, complex environments
  • 5+ years managing technical teams consisting of engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or qualification in an IT related discipline or equivalent technical and business experience
Required Knowledge & Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Exceptional analytical and process development skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, versatile and adaptable in day-to-day activities conducted in a multi-site environment.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to design, manage, and implement processes and procedures for technical teams.
  • Strong experience in project management through demonstrated experience.
  • Strong experience with vendor management and relationships.
  • Ability to motivate others to perform.
