The Pharmacy Program Consultant or Manager role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of a pharmacy product strategy. Position will support local large group with employer groups that elect to carve out their pharmacy program. 



Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

 
  • Tracks individual product performance by benefit design, market segment and geography.
  • Supports the development of short and long term strategic product plans in support of market, sales and profitability objectives
  • Partners with product managers to achieve superior execution of product strategy in the marketplace 
  • Identifies system needs to support short and long term product strategy
  • Develops, implements and maintains competitive product platform 
  • Develops system requirements and ROI metrics
  • May lead effort or manage project teams in the implementation of regional and company-wide pharmacy initiatives including legislative changes, network/provider changes/ medical management program and policy initiatives, etc.
  • Partners with exchanges for eligibility, membership, subsidy payment, cost sharing subsidies, reconciliation, and grievance and appeals. Represents the interests of pharmacy in all Health Care Reform (“HCR”) initiatives 
  • Supports the development of short and long term strategic pharmacy plans in support of marketing and sales objectives.

Program Cons:

Requires a BA/BS degree; Graduate degree preferred.  3-5 years of external client facing experience in program/project management; 5 – 7 years of managed care pharmacy experience (highly preferred) or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Project management certification preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of current health care, pharmacy regulations, managed care pharmacy practices, membership, claims or sales and marketing strategies.

 

 

 

Program Mgr: (this is not a leadership level position)

Requires a BA/BS degree; Graduate degree preferred.  5-7 years of external client facing experience in program/project management; 7 – 10 years of managed care pharmacy experience (highly preferred) or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Project management certification preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of current health care, pharmacy regulations, managed care pharmacy practices, membership, claims or sales and marketing strategies.

 

(this is not a people leader Mgr level position but will operate as an individual contributor without direct reports)
